Housekeeping Salary Slip Format: A Ready-to-Use Template (India, Gulf & US)

By Sanora Technologies  ·  21 Jul 2026 ·  7 min read

The short answer: a housekeeping salary slip needs just four blocks — who & when (name, role, month), an attendance summary (days present, half days, absences against the working-days base), the money maths (agreed pay, earned amount, advances deducted), and the net payable with payment date. It fits on one screen, works in any currency, and its only real job is this: both you and your housekeeper can reproduce the final number from what's printed on it. Copy the template below and you're done.

The housekeeping salary slip format (copy this)

Whether your housekeeper is full-time, live-in, or a twice-a-week cleaner, the same structure works. Here is the format, block by block:

SectionFields to include
1. HeaderHousekeeper name · Role · Salary month · Household / employer name
2. AttendanceWorking-days base (26 / 30 / scheduled) · Days present · Half days (×0.5) · Days absent
3. EarningsAgreed monthly pay (or per-day / per-visit rate) · Gross earned this month
4. DeductionsEach advance with its date · Any other agreed deduction
5. Net payableFinal amount (bold) · Payment date · Payment mode (cash / bank / UPI)

That's the entire format. Everything else — logos, signature lines, employee IDs — is optional polish, not the substance.

A worked example

Say Maria keeps house full-time, six days a week, on an agreed 12,000 a month (use your own currency symbol — the maths is identical everywhere). This month she was present 23 days, took 1 half day, was absent 3 days, and took one 2,000 advance mid-month.

Salary Slip — Maria (Housekeeper) — July 2026
Agreed monthly pay12,000
Working-days base26 (Mon–Sat)
Days present23
Half days1 (counted as 0.5)
Days absent3
Gross earned (23.5 ÷ 26 × 12,000)10,846
Advance deduction (14 July)− 2,000
Net payable8,846
Paid on1 August 2026, bank transfer

Every line is either something both parties witnessed or arithmetic anyone can check. The full formula behind the "gross earned" line is explained in the salary calculation guide — or skip the maths and use the free salary calculator to fill in these numbers and download this exact slip as a PDF. If your housekeeper is part-time or paid per visit, the part-time payment guide shows the per-visit version of the same slip.

Does one format work for India, the Gulf and the US?

Mostly, yes — the attendance-to-net-pay structure is universal. What changes is what you may want to add on top:

  • India & South Asia. No law mandates a payslip for domestic workers, so this format is exactly right as-is. It's a courtesy and a record, not a compliance document — and that's its strength.
  • Gulf / Middle East (UAE, Saudi, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain). Domestic workers generally sit outside the Wage Protection System that covers mainland labour-law staff, and there's no income tax — so a clean gross → advances → net slip in AED, SAR, QAR and so on is above the norm and genuinely useful evidence of timely, correct pay. See the UAE employer guide for the day-off and record-keeping context.
  • United States. For an informal or direct-hire housekeeper this format is a solid earnings record. But if you run formal "nanny-tax" payroll, a compliant pay stub additionally needs hours worked, overtime (household workers are non-exempt under the FLSA — overtime after 40 hours for live-out staff), Social Security & Medicare (FICA) and income-tax withholding, and year-to-date totals. Use this slip as the pay record and add those tax lines through your payroll provider.

The one field worth adding if your housekeeper is hourly — common in the US and for part-timers everywhere — is an hours × rate line in place of the fixed monthly pay. Everything else stays the same.

Three ways to produce the slip each month

1. Paper or a printed template

Fine to start. Keep a fixed layout, photograph each slip, and hand over a copy. The weak point is upstream — the slip is only as accurate as your attendance record, and paper attendance tends to decay by the third week.

2. A spreadsheet

A sheet can compute the earned amount and print a tidy slip. It still relies on someone entering attendance daily and remembering every advance — the workflow gap covered in Excel vs app.

3. Generated automatically from attendance

In StaffAround the payslip is a by-product, not a chore. You mark attendance with one tap a day, log advances when you hand them over, and at month end the app assembles the slip automatically — days present, half days, absences, the per-day rate, gross earned, an itemised advance summary showing what was taken, repaid and deducted, and the net payable. It displays amounts in your local currency based on your country (USD, AED, SAR, GBP, EUR, INR and more), and you can share it on WhatsApp or download a clean PDF on the Plus and Pro plans. The app runs in 12 languages including Arabic, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali — the languages housekeeping staff actually read.

Small details that make a big difference

  • Show half days as 0.5, not as a footnote. It's the most commonly fudged number on any household payslip.
  • List each advance with its date. A lone "advances: 3,500" line restarts the very argument the slip was meant to end — itemise them, as in the cash-advance guide.
  • Keep paid leave visible. If two days are paid leave, show them as present so the record matches the agreement.
  • Send the slip the same day you pay. Slip plus payment together make the record complete on both sides.

Frequently asked questions

What should a housekeeping salary slip include?

Five blocks: header (housekeeper name, role, salary month, household), attendance summary (working-days base, days present, half days as 0.5, days absent), earnings (agreed monthly or per-day pay and gross earned), deductions (each advance itemised with its date), and net payable with the payment date and mode. It should fit on one screen and let both sides reproduce the final number.

Is a housekeeping salary slip format the same in India, the Gulf and the US?

The attendance-to-net-pay structure is the same everywhere. In India and the Gulf no payslip is legally mandated for domestic workers, so this format works as-is. In the US it is a good earnings record, but formal nanny-tax payroll also needs hours, overtime, FICA and income-tax withholding, and year-to-date totals added through a payroll provider.

How do I make a salary slip for an hourly housekeeper?

Replace the fixed monthly-pay line with an hours × hourly-rate line, then keep the rest of the format identical: attendance or hours worked, gross earned, advances deducted with dates, and net payable. StaffAround handles per-day and per-visit rates and builds the slip automatically.

Can I generate a housekeeping salary slip automatically?

Yes. StaffAround builds the slip from your daily one-tap attendance — including half days and itemised advance deductions — shows amounts in your local currency based on your country, and lets you share it on WhatsApp or as a PDF on the Plus and Pro plans. It is free for up to 2 staff members.

Put your house help management on autopilot.

One-tap attendance, automatic salary calculation, advance tracking, and WhatsApp payslips — for maids, nannies, cooks & drivers. Works offline. Free for up to 2 staff members.
